TREND ALERT: Self Care is IN

On the rise and well overdue is the trend of putting mindfulness and self-care at the top of the priority list. Prior to the pandemic, it was moving at a positively glacial pace. Oh, it grew…. But so do trees and we don’t actually see them stretch do we? If there was anything good to come from this pandemic, it’s our need to self-care inside our bubbles. People are very aware of their own fatigue these days and while we spend a lot of time at home, we find ourselves baking sourdough, painting our nails, gardening and all manner of new activities too. Long after the bubbles popped and we braved the world again, many return to self-care land again, to refresh and relax. Apps to help us meditate, de-stress and sleep well are used by many – it’s as if we have caught a glimpse of what it’s like to take care of ourselves, and finally decided to make it a priority… and nothing could make me happier. The apps I recommend are: Calm (for amazing meditation or if you just want to go to sleep to the soothing sleep story sounds of Mathew McConoughey) and for journaling, check out Day One, which comes with daily things to ponder and write about.
